My Ad Astra

This year is all about women in space… First ‘unmanned’ space walk in a history was a step to a first woman to be walking on the Moon in 2024 within Artemis mission. So how I swerve, how I a female physicist from Poland turned into an engineer working on the ORION spacecraft which will bring a first woman to the Moon within this Mission (Artemis is the twin sister of Apollo and Goddess of the Moon and hunt)? But before the one small step for a woman, and one giant leap for a woman-kind, in my talk I will present the story all about my grit – the secret to outstanding achievement, not talent but a special mix of passion and persistence.

In addition, I will share lessons learnt based on why I left academia despite being the best student, why I switched from global players such as Rolls Royce, Airbus into a family company OHB? From outside it might look glamourous that everything went smoothly in my process from start to where I am now, but it is a bumpy process and I learnt to embrace trying and failing and again trying until I achieve a success…

Finally, how studying sth as abstract as nuclear physics, pursuing PhD helped me to shape my aerospace career in Germany, my leadership path? Who supported me on my STEAM way for example WIA, who are my role models, do I shadow any leaders and how I leverage daily my network?
